SARSILMAZ Produces Land, Naval, and Aerial Versions of 12.7 mm Anti-Aircraft Guns; Defense Industries President İsmail Demir Visits Düzce Facility
SARSILMAZ manufactures not only the land version of its 12.7 mm anti-aircraft guns but also naval and aerial variants. During a visit to the Düzce production facility, President of Defense Industries Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir praised SARSILMAZ’s ongoing projects and achievements.
Thanks to its high-tech infrastructure, strong R&D capabilities, and successful track record in designing and producing pistols, submachine guns, infantry rifles, and machine guns, SARSILMAZ was awarded the design and production project for Turkey’s 12.7 mm Heavy Machine Gun.
As the sole owner of this R&D and development project, SARSILMAZ is delivering the 12.7x99 mm heavy machine gun for all land platforms, while also offering aerial and naval versions redesigned using advanced engineering and optimization techniques to reduce weight and increase firing rate.
The aerial version, integrated into a pod, will be deployed on HÜRKUŞ-C aircraft produced by TUSAŞ, and the naval variant, featuring superior corrosion resistance and enhanced barrel ballistics, will soon enter service on maritime platforms.
During his visit, Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, accompanied by key SSB officials, toured the facility, reviewed SARSILMAZ’s operations, and tested domestically produced weapons at the shooting range. SARSILMAZ Chairman Latif Aral Aliş hosted the delegation, which included the Head of Weapons and Ammunition, Industrialization, and Security & Equipment Departments.
President Demir praised the accomplishments of the Turkish defense industry, stating:
"We witnessed SARSILMAZ’s achievements firsthand. All stakeholders in the defense sector contributed to these successes. I congratulate everyone involved and am confident that Turkey will continue to make its mark globally, especially as we advance toward higher-caliber weapons."
The SAR 127 MT’s advanced engineering and technology are being applied across land, air, and naval versions. The land variant, featuring a quick-change barrel system, can be mounted on all armored vehicles and platforms. The air version, with rapid cooling elements and lightweight internal components, achieves a higher rate of fire. Installed in a pod with TR Mekatronik, it is compatible with HÜRKUŞ-C aircraft and can also be adapted for other aerial and maritime platforms as required.
Through these projects, SARSILMAZ continues to demonstrate Turkey’s growing expertise in high-caliber weapon systems, supporting both national security forces and international recognition of Turkish defense manufacturing.
