SAR 9 Secures Second Prestigious Award in the United States

The superior performance of Turkey’s “Original and Domestic Pistol”, SAR 9, has been recognized with consecutive international awards. As part of a project coordinated by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), SAR 9 was selected as Turkey’s official domestic pistol after achieving top results in all tests conducted by the Armed Forces and the General Directorate of Security.

Developed by Sarsılmaz to meet the needs of Turkish security forces and military personnel, the new versions of the SAR 9 were awarded the “Readers’ Choice Gold Award” in the pistol category by Tactical Retailer, one of the leading U.S. publications. Following SAR 9, the Silver Medal was awarded to Sig Sauer and the Bronze Medal to Glock.

Earlier in January, the SAR 9X, a new version of SAR 9, had also won “Handgun of the Year 2020” in the Editors’ Choice Awards organized by On Target, one of the most widely read U.S. firearms magazines.

SAR 9: Turkey’s Original and Domestic Pistol

Under the “Original Domestic Pistol Project”, SAR 9 completed all tests conducted by a commission of military and law enforcement personnel with outstanding success, including a 50,000-round endurance test completed without a single malfunction. Its combination of durability, light weight, superior accuracy, and performance under harsh conditions contributed to its selection as Turkey’s official domestic pistol.

The SAR 9 series also offers multiple versions to suit different user preferences, including SAR 9 METE, SAR 9 Sport, SAR 9X, and SAR 9C, each with unique features. The series ranges from models designed for military use with high firepower and precision, to versions optimized for easy carry and enhanced safety standards. Additionally, the Picatinny rail system allows the attachment of a wide range of accessories, further increasing versatility.

With its consistent performance and internationally recognized quality, SAR 9 continues to cement its place as a leading example of Turkish engineering in the global firearms industry.
