Carrying the signature of SARSILMAZ’s newly established company dedicated to developing robotic weapon systems, the armed robot SARBOT met visitors at TEKNOFEST Ankara, following its debut in Istanbul.
Held between August 30 and September 3 at Etimesgut Airport, the festival also featured SARSILMAZ products developed and manufactured with domestic and national capabilities, including the 20 mm cannon to be integrated into ATAK helicopters, the 12.7 mm heavy machine gun designed for Hürkuş aircraft, the SAR 2023 pistol specially produced in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Republic, and Songar, Türkiye’s first domestically produced armed drone.
As in Istanbul, SARSILMAZ made a strong impact at TEKNOFEST 2023 Ankara Aviation, Space and Technology Festival, where the company —with more than a century of history as a pillar of both Turkish and global defense industries— showcased a wide range of over 300 products developed with national resources.
Products from TR Mekatronik, a joint venture of SARSILMAZ and Turkish Aerospace (TUSAŞ), also attracted great attention. These included the 20 mm cannon for ATAK helicopters and the 12.7 mm heavy machine gun for Hürkuş-C aircraft. Alongside them, Türkiye’s first armed drone Songar and the armed robot SARBOT, developed by SARSILMAZ’s new company focused on robotic weapon systems, stood out as major attractions at the festival.
The triple-barrel 20 mm nose cannon, integrated into the T-129 ATAK helicopter, provides Türkiye with critical electro-mechanical firepower, delivering a firing rate of 750 rounds per minute. Meanwhile, the SAR 127 MT AIR delivers 900–1250 rounds per minute, ensuring powerful aerial fire support.
With its motto “On Land, At Sea, and In the Air,” SARSILMAZ continues to produce a full spectrum of weapons and ammunition to meet the needs of military forces. Just as in Istanbul, the company offered visitors at TEKNOFEST Ankara an exciting opportunity to experience ultra-realistic shooting simulations.
Through a digital simulation replicating all conditions, distances, and details of SARSILMAZ’s outdoor test range, visitors engaged in immersive shooting experiences with the SAR9 SC, SAR9 SP, and SAR9 CX pistols, the SAR 109T submachine gun, and the SAR 56 infantry rifle.
In addition, SARSILMAZ’s domestically developed and manufactured machine gun family —including the SAR 127 MT, SAR 762 MT, and SAR 556 MT models— was among the most popular attractions at TEKNOFEST 2023 Ankara.
